Our true nature doesn’t appear, and it doesn’t disappear. It is beyond life and death, taking any form according to conditions. That’s all. It is the substance, the very nature of the universe. You can call it mind, Buddha, God, nature, energy, substance, consciousness, emptiness, or simply everything. You can put any name on it, but it exists before thinking, which means it is before any name.
Think about a cup of tea. We can call it “tea” or “cha(차)”, but its true form is not the word “tea” or “cha”. The only way we really know what it is, is to become one with it. It’s the exact same thing with ourselves.
