Change of 2025 Summer Kyol Che End Date (Hae Je Day) & Related Notice

1. The ongoing Summer Kyol Che 2025 will end on Saturday, August 9
Those who have already applied to participate until the original end date (August 8) can participate without additional costs until the new end date (August 9).

2. No 3-Day Deep Cleaning during the last 3 days: Starting with the ongoing 2025 summer Kyol Che, the deep cleaning period that was previously conducted during the last 3 days of each Kyol Che will be cancelled. The itinerary for the last week of Kyol Che (August 2 – August 9) will be the same, just like the previous weeks.

3. “Hae Je Weekend”: Starting on Saturday afternoon of the Hae Je day (final day of Kyol Che) to the next day, Sunday, we will celebrate the Hae Je day under the title of “Hae Je Weekend” with a 1-night, 2-day schedule. All those who have participated in the Kyol Che at Musangsa, the International KUSZ members, and those who wish to practice Zen at Musangsa and KUSZ Centers following the teachings of Zen Master Seung Sahn in the future, can join. Hae Je Weekend will be held at the end of each Kyol Che in the future. You are welcome to partake and celebrate Hae Je day for all practitioners who have practiced diligently during the Kyol Che, and to strengthen our Great Vow and Dharma fellowship.

4. New Start and End Date for Kyol Che and Hae Je at Musangsa in the future
Musangsa is an international Zen Center and a Korean temple where people from various countries, both lay and monastic, practice Zen based on the teachings of Zen Master Seung Sahn. Considering the characteristics of the Musangsa Kyol Che with such diverse practitioners, the following changes will be made in the future.

i. The start and end dates of Kyol Che will be set on Saturdays. It will be set for three months each in summer and winter, close to the Kyol Che periods of the traditional Korean Zen temples. The schedule for the following Kyol Ches will be announced in advance.

ii. Therefore, the start and end dates of each Kyol Che will always be Saturdays from this point on.

iii. “Hae Je Weekend.” will be held on each of Hae Je day (ending day of Kyol Che).

* Winter Kyol Che 2025/2026: December 6 (Sat) – March 7 (Sat)

Hae Je Weekend Registration Information

– Please fill in the online application for “Hae Je Weekend” on the Musangsa website and submit it by Saturday, August 2.

– Participation fee: 50,000 won (additional stay: 50,000 won per night)

– Participants in the last week of Kyol Che (August 2 – 9) will be exempted from the “Hae Je Weekend” participation fee.

– Volunteers who will stay for a few days after the event ends on August 10 and help with cleaning will be exempted from the “Hae Je Weekend” participation fee and subsequent stay expenses (up to 3 nights, 4 days).

– The number of people may be limited due to room capacity. (registration on a first-come, first-served basis)
